11-16-2015 Issues at Horseshoe Courts

Diana,

We still have remaining maintenance items at the horseshoe pits.  I have added photos to show the conditions.

Thanks,
     Ted

1.  Our first home horseshoe match is Tuesday.  Please remove the remaining tennis equipment.

2.  6 bags of sand were delivered to fill pit 8 west.  We added the 6 bags plus 1 more bag we had in the shed and still need 3 more bags to fill.

3.  Most pits are less than full.  Note how the carpet curls because the level of sand is low.  Sand that is broadcast out of the pits during play is swept back in, but some is lost out into the grass and turf.  The pits should be within 1/2-inch of being full.  15 bags of sand are needed to fill the pits.  1 yard of sand would accomplish tasks 2 & 3 at perhaps less cost.

4. Weeds are sprouting at the edge of the concrete lanes and turf.  Should these be sprayed to kill before pulling?  What should the spray be?  Preferably non-staining.

5. Ants are colonizing at pit 5 east.  What is needed to treat the ants?

6. Paint is lifting from the concrete in large patches.  Note how the edges are also lifting indicating the condition will continue to get worse.  An assessment should be made as to whether it is more cost effective to patch to attempt to minimize the lifting or to put it off and repaint the entire area in the off season.  I would suggest patching a few spots  at the far end to see if that is a worthwhile course of action.

7. The water fountain is leaking at the connection under the sink.  Note the drip forming on the low point on the braided hose and the wet pavers below.

8.  There is a leak in the sink inside the Portable Toilet on the floor that has been there for 2 weeks.
